Victor Howell - 2011 Marketer of the Year

There are many men and women who do great things in our Baton Rouge community day in and day out. Every once in a while we are given an opportunity to honor these amazing people! One of our own, here at Team Toyota, was honored this week by being named one of the 2011 Marketer of the Year Honorees.  Victor has truly had an impressive career, contributing to several organizations and receiving numerous awards for his accomplishments. What is really impressive about this man though is his involvement in giving back to our community. As you will see in the following article written about Victor, he has contributed much to both Baton Rouge and Louisiana as a whole. We are excited to be able to honor his efforts and know that there is only more to come as Victor continues on with his careers both with CST and with us here at the Team Automotive Group.

Article written about Victor in the 2011 Marketer of the Year Honorees brochure:

Victor Howell enters his third season with the Hornets as the host of Hornets Tonight, the 30 minute pre-game show on CST. He serves as sideline reporter during the CST broadcasts. During the 2011-12 season, Howell will host the Monty Williams coach’s show on CST.

Victor is in his tenth year with CST, serving as host of the award-winning studio program CST Tonight, Saints Tonight, and CST’s Fantasy Football Extra. He’s also the color analyst for LSU basketball games on CST. In addition to his work with CST, Howell serves as the media director for the Team Automotive Group in Baton Rouge and can be seen on air as the spokesperson for Team Toyota. This year he led a campaign that raised over $2,000 for St. Jude Children’s Medical Center, as well as a campaign that raised over $5,000 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

A 1991 graduate of LSU, Howell spent 11 years at WAFB-TV, the CBS affiliate in Baton Rouge, LA as a sports anchor/host/reporter. He was awarded the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award of Excellence for Regional Sports Reporting (2001), Best Sportscast by the Baton Rouge Gambit (1999 & 2000), and Best Sportscast by the Louisiana Sportswriters Association. He was also honored for Outstanding Contribution to High School Athletics by the National Football League Foundation and Hall of Fame (1993-94), and was named a Top 40 Under 40 Baton Rouge Community Leader by The Baton Rouge Business Report in 2000. Prior to transferring to LSU, Howell was a two-year letterman in basketball at The University of Tulsa under Coach J. D. Barnett. The Golden Hurricane won the Missouri Valley Conference and advanced to the NCAA Tournament during his freshman season before losing to Oklahoma in the West Regional. He was awarded the Leon Alvoid Award for outstanding team leadership and sportsmanship following both the 1996-97 and 1997-98 seasons.

The 42-year old Howell continues to be active with various fundraising and charitable organizations throughout southern Louisiana, and during his free time, performed with the band LOUISIANA for 19 years and enjoys spending getaway time with his family. Victor and his wife Krystal have one daughter, Kathryn.

As you can see, Victor has been an incredibly busy person for the past 24 years of his life, but no matter how busy life gets he always remembers what is most important; giving back. So from all of us here at Team Toyota, we want to thank Victor for his unwavering devotion to stay involved and always put others first.
